Cowes Harbour is one of the busiest leisure harbours in the UK and it’s very important for the Harbour Authority to have an ‘eye in the sky’ capability.

As well as recreational vessels, Red Funnel operates approximately 18,600 Red Jet Hi-Speed sailings and 11,800 Passenger Vehicle Ferry sailings each year. Commercially, there are over 200 pilotage requirements annually, and around 1,250 moorings throughout the harbour.

For good reason then, the harbour has safety-based rules and limits, and where these are broken, the Harbour Commission needs reliable and high-quality evidence to educate users, enforce regulations, and/or support a prosecution.

This is especially important during high season and the busy Cowes Week regatta in August, which regularly attracts up to 1,000 boats, 8,500 sailors, and tens of thousands of spectators.
