Demand for 'smart' run estates sees connectivity firm grow

Strong growth in ‘smart sites’ which can control infrastructure remotely and create more efficient, environmentally friendly living and working spaces is seeing TrellisWorks set to expand.

Following a surge in demand for advanced Building Management System (BMS) projects, including additional Ministry of Defence (MOD) sites this year as the MOD continues to modernise its military accommodation and training facilities, we are looking to recruit additional engineers.

The projects are creating centralised modern infrastructure which can control anything from heating and lighting to help drive efficiencies.

With further projects in the pipeline despite just appointing two new engineers we are now looking to recruit a further two engineers as well as an additional senior role as the strong start to the year means that demand for expertise has grown.

Dominic Scarr, Managing Director, at the Berkshire based business, said: “TrellisWorks has been providing innovative connectivity solutions to major UK and international businesses for over 20 years. Specialising in making complex problems simple, we bring together all aspects of connectivity to create adaptable networks for complex environments.

“We are finding more companies are turning to private 5G and in-house cellular enhancements to provide more efficient and productive building management.

“Organisations are looking to centralise controls to create greater carbon efficiencies, reduce costs and provide smarter solutions to building management. To do this they need fast, secure and resilient networks that can support the technology.

“Our solutions are powering the leading tech modernising the way we work and live our lives.”

Building Management Systems or BMS are a centralised, computer -based system that monitors and controls a building’s mechanical, electrical and safety systems to optimise efficiency, comfort and security. Modern systems often incorporate IoT and AI-driven analytics to enhance predictive maintenance, energy management and operational insights. Often used in universities, hospitals and government buildings they provide centralised systems which mean that they can effectively manage the site remotely.

At the start of the year enquiries for BMS support have continued to increase and we are currently supporting projects across the UK including the Ministry of Defence roll out to modernise sites. Four additional sites are being started this year with further due later in the year.

In the last 12 months the team has provided AI enabled CCTV solutions for UK ferry operators, supported one of Europe’s largest transport projects by providing fast and reliable connection to rural construction sites, as well as designing enhanced connectivity solutions for prestigious UK racecourses hailed as ‘the future’ of the industry.

Working on major infrastructure projects we have also built-up longstanding connections and 20 years since first working with East Cowes Harbour they are now part of the team supporting the new 145-birth revolutionary Cowes Harbour Marina. Estimated to generate £23 million in economic benefits over 20 years TrellisWorks is providing leading AI enabled surveillance and wireless connectivity for the modern facilities.
