What is Private 5G?

Private 5G is your own mobile network, operating independently from public cellular services.

Because it is private, it does not suffer from congestion caused by external users or neighbouring networks. Bandwidth is reserved for your organisation, performance is consistent, and coverage can be engineered to match how your site is actually used, whether that’s indoors, outdoors, or across a combination of both.

Private 5G uses carrier-grade mobile technology, adapted for enterprise and operational use rather than consumer traffic.

How Private 5G works

Base stations

Strategically placed radios provide coverage across the site. Fewer radios are often required compared to dense Wi-Fi deployments, reducing cabling and installation complexity.

5G core

A software based core manages security, traffic and performance. This typically runs on a dedicated server located on site, although off site hosting is also possible.

SIM or eSIM authentication

Devices connect using SIM-based credentials, ensuring each device is uniquely identified and authorised.

Network management system

Real time monitoring and control allow the network to be tuned and adjusted as conditions change.

Secure by design

Security is built into the architecture of Private 5G. Only authorised devices can connect to the network, using SIM or eSIM authentication rather than shared passwords. Traffic is isolated, encrypted and never exposed to public users unless explicitly configured to do so.

Because the network is private, there are no standard data tariffs, billing systems or usage charges to manage.
