5G and Beyond
We’re already entering the next chapter of connectivity. While Public 5G has transformed mobile performance, Private 5G is where the real opportunities begin.
Private 5G gives organisations the power to run their own dedicated network, one that only they can access. With no shared bandwidth or interference, it offers unmatched reliability, low latency and robust security, frequently outperforming Wi-Fi and traditional wireless.
It’s not just faster and more reliable, it’s smarter too. Networks can be designed to be fit for purpose. If you upload more than download, then the system can be tailored to focus on that. It’s all about efficiency.
To date, there seems to be a reluctance to step forward with Private 5G, with some of the core objectives being that it is too complex and too expensive. At face value, these ideas could be true, but they don’t explore the whole picture.
Systems can be designed by the many experts out there who are offering this service, meaning that for an end user they don’t have to have any specialised knowledge and it can essentially become “plug and play”. Furthermore, while the base station costs may be higher, far fewer are often required, so the overall costs can be reduced.
Private 5G is also expanding the world of opportunity, with it being used for applications that just weren’t possible up until now. From automating farming, to transforming connectivity at outdoor events, allowing us to rethink the power of robotics, and even breaking down the digital divide between cities and rural areas, it almost feels as if what we can now achieve is only limited by our own imagination.
Looking Ahead to 6G
While Private 5G is already transforming what’s possible, 6G is set to take connectivity to an entirely new level. By offering faster speeds, lower latency, and the capacity to connect many more devices at once, it will enable more seamless automation, robotics, collaboration and industrial IoT in ways that just aren’t feasible with today’s networks.
The move to 6G will see us designing networks that are flexible, scalable and resilient. By planning infrastructure with modular, hybrid-ready systems now, organisations can ensure they’ll be ready to integrate 6G when it arrives. Knowing that what we have for now won’t be long-lived, it is wise that all modern systems are designed with future proofing in mind. They need to be ready for what’s next, whatever that may be.
With 6G predicted to be commercially accessible by around 2030, it’s exciting to think about what we are going to be able to do in just five years’ time that isn’t even on the radar in the present day.
The Sustainable Network
Growing innovation means that connectivity is no longer just a technical decision, it is an environmental one. Every network choice, from the location of infrastructure to how it is powered, has an impact on energy use and cost.
Smarter network design can reduce both footprint and power demand. Fewer repeaters, more efficient routing, and hybrid systems that combine fibre, satellite and wireless all help to lower energy consumption while maintaining performance.
Private 5G can play a key role in creating sustainable networks. By consolidating connectivity into fewer, more efficient components and enabling real time management of assets and energy systems, it supports greener operations and a more responsible use of resources.
Sustainability should be an integral consideration in every network design and will become increasingly important as businesses plan for the future.
Preparing for the Next 21 Years
The world is no longer fitting around technology. The modern world is focused on solutions. Where are the bottle necks? Where are the frustrations? Where could we be streamlining tasks and bridging the gap between can’t do and can easily do? How is technology going to make everything better?
As we move on to the next 21 years, the question will be less leaned towards what is possible and more in the direction of how can I find the right partner to make this a reality?
Our focus has always been on finding solutions for our clients, even in the most difficult of environments. And the technology that’s available is making this easier to achieve if you know where to look.
As is always the case, however, as one area becomes easier to achieve, it only means we become more ambitious. At TrellisWorks, we think that needs celebrating.
When you next find yourself questioning whether something is possible or not, instead ask yourself are you speaking to the right people to make this happen.
In the past 21 years, technology has moved at a startling rate, and we predict this will only get faster and faster. Those who keep on top of it and know how to use it will be the people that thrive. It will be too easy to get left behind, by just a blink of the eye.
If you want to stay ahead, then let’s have a chat. At TrellisWorks, our priority is to stay ahead of the trends, and our solution first, vendor agnostic approach, means we always deliver the best designs for our clients and not just the most convenient ones.
If you could be doing things in a better way, then get in touch.
